Does BTTS Include Extra Time?

Almost never. Standard BTTS bets settle after 90 minutes plus stoppage time, before extra time or penalties. If the score is 0-0 after 90 but finishes 1-1 after extra time, BTTS Yes still loses, since neither team scored during regulation. Flip it around: a 1-1 score after 90 already wins BTTS Yes, and it stays a winner no matter what happens in the shootout afterward. Always check the settlement rules on cup or tournament matches specifically, since that’s where this catches people out.

BTTS Yes vs. BTTS No

This isn’t about picking the better team, it’s about whether both teams have a realistic path to scoring.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned betting this market is that a strong attack doesn’t automatically create a good BTTS opportunity. A 1-0 Toronto win loses this bet even though Toronto won, since Montréal never scored, and a 2-2 draw loses it too, since both teams scored but nobody won.

How to Analyze a BTTS Matchup

Recent scoring form

Look at the last five to ten matches for both teams, and check whether the scoring is sustainable rather than one explosive outlier surrounded by scoreless games.

Goals conceded

BTTS needs a team that can score and a team that can concede. Two average attacks against two vulnerable defences is often a better BTTS setup than two elite teams.

Home and away splits
