In Kassel, Magdeburg, the only German team still unbeaten in the Champions League, suffered some unusual lapses in a bizarre first half. The visitors fell behind by as many as seven goals, and struggled offensively – only Felix Claar could be relied upon, with the Swede scoring seven goals in the first half alone.

After the break, things didn’t get any better against a rampant Melsungen side, with Magdeburg finding hardly any answers to the hosts’ attacking versatility.
Previously, the defending champions had kept pace with the two top clubs from the north, but unlike Magdeburg, SG Flensburg-Handewitt also managed to win their fifth game of the season at the same time, beating HC Hamburg 37-34 (19-16). Füchse win for the third time in a row
Fuchse Berlin, meanwhile, secured their third consecutive victory. In a rematch of this year’s cup final, the visitors defeated bottom club Bergischer HC, still without a point, 37-26 (15-9) on Sunday. The leading goal scorer for head coach Nicolej Krickau’s team was Danish world handball player Mathias Gidsel with eleven goals.
