Antonsen wins quarter-final at Arctic Open to set up huge clash against former World No.1

Anders Antonsen on Friday evening secured his access to the semi-final of the Arctic Open badminton tournament thanks to a 22-20, 21-19 win over Hu Zhe An from China in the quarter-final.

The Dane ran into trouble in a very tight first set, which ultimately went his way, 22-20. The second set was equally close; Antonsen trailed 17-19 before fighting back to win the set 21-19.

In the semi-final, Antonsen will face Malaysian star Lee Zii Jia, who won Olympic bronze in 2024 and is also a former World No. 1.

Mia Blichfeldt also won her quarter-final match, defeating China's Han Yue who is ranked eighth in the world, 21-18, 24-22. Blichfeldt fell behind 5-0 in the first set before rallying to win 21-18. In the second set, Blichfeldt saved three set points before clinching the set and the match at 24-22.

Line Christophersen also defeated Pornpawee Chochuwong, ranked ninth in the world, 2-1, thereby advancing to the semi-finals.
