Denmark's women's national team is ready for the quarter-finals of the Uber Cup, the women's team world championship, which takes place in Horsens.
On Monday evening, the Danes won 4-1 in their match against Ukraine after a surprising defeat to Line Christophersen in the first singles match.
Since China has also secured the victory over India in Denmark's group, Denmark is second in the group and therefore among the best eight nations.
Previously in the tournament, Denmark won 3-2 against India, while the Danes fell short against the Chinese women, who won 5-0 on Saturday.
Denmark got the expected start against Ukraine, when Line Christophersen confidently won the first set against Polina Buhrova, who is ranked 20 places lower in the world rankings than the Dane.
However, Christophersen subsequently lost her rhythm afterwards and surprisingly lost in three sets with 21-12, 19-21, 15-21.
Line Kjaersfeldt was much more confident in her game and quickly responded with a victory over Sofiia Lavrova, the World No 194.
The team match was turned upside down when Amalie Schulz later eliminated Mariia Stoliarenko, the World No 313. Schulz won 21-12, 21-4.
Denmark's victory in the team match was then already assured when the doubles team with Alexandra Boje and Simona Pilgaard confidently defeated Raiia Almalalha and Anastasiia Alymova in two sets.
Amalie Kudsk and Mette Werge closed the match with another convincing Danish victory in two sets.
Denmark's quarter-final will be played on Thursday. The opponent is not yet known on Monday evening.
