World Handball Player Mathias Gidsel was especially lively and stood out as the leading goal scorer with nine goals for Fuchse, who have had a rather modest start to the season with three wins from five competitive matches. Next Wednesday, Fuchse will host Veszprem in a clash for the top spot in the table.
The European Handball Federation (EHF) has changed the competition format: The number of participants has been increased from 16 to 24 teams, and instead of playing in two groups for quarterfinal spots as in previous years, the teams now compete in six groups of four.
The group stage features home and away matches. The top two teams from each group advance to the main round. Teams finishing third and fourth continue in the European League.
