Finland needed overtime to take the gold medals on Swiss ice less than six months ago, but there was no need for an extra period this time, as they opened up a healthy lead with goals midway through the opening two periods.
Switzerland-based players made the difference, as Roby Jarventie scored unassisted to break the deadlock with 12 minutes gone, before Zurich's Juho Lammikko combined with Benjamin Rautiainen to set up Axel Rindell to make it 2-0 midway through the contest.
Three minutes later, Rodwin Dionicio halved the deficit, but a Swiss fightback in the third period was curtailed by a series of penalties, and with one second left on the clock, Finland finally made use of a powerplay, as Jarventie scored his second to make it 3-1, assisted by Janne Kuokkanen and Markus Nurmi.
On 7th November, Finland will look to stay unbeaten on home ice against Czech Republic, before finishing the four-team competition against Sweden the following day.
