Former Maryland running back Roman Hemby (22) will be transferring to Indiana after entering the transfer portal just one week ago, according to ESPN.

Hemby is officially leaving his home state and taking his talents to Indiana with just one year of eligibility remaining.

The Edgewood, Maryland native rushed for 607 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns last season for the Terps on 134 carries. He also put up 273 receiving yards on 40 receptions with one touchdown.

Hemby's numbers have declined with each year that went by during his three years at Maryland. In 2022, Hemby put up career numbers on the ground with 188 rushes, 989 yards, and 11 total touchdowns (10 rushing, one receiving).

Indiana starting running backs Justice Ellison and Ty Lawton were both seniors this year, leaving the door wide open for Hemby to take the starting spot for a Hoosiers team that just made their first-ever college football playoffs.

Indiana's 11-2 season, the best year in program history, came to an end recently after losing to Notre Dame in the CFP.
