Thomas, who spent eight-and-a-half seasons with the Broncos in his 10-year career, was a five-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion with the team.
He finished his career with 9,763 total yards and 63 touchdowns, 9,055/60 of which came while a player for the Broncos.
On December 9th, 2021, Thomas tragically passed away at the age of 33 due to complications of a seizure disorder.
In their statement, Broncos owners Greg Penner and Carrie Walton Penner said that the decision to enshrine Thomas was "a testament to the indelible mark he left on our organization and community. One of the most beloved players and greatest wide receivers in franchise history, Demaryius inspired our fans with breathtaking athleticism, record-setting performances, and joyful, infectious spirit."
While there are those of us who remember Thomas on the field, it was his community work and humble attitude with the fans that made him a favorite player to many in the Broncos fandom.
Thomas' quick slant highlight that sent the Pittsburgh Steelers packing during the 2012 playoffs was just one of many from one of the most underrated wide receivers of his time.
The ceremony on October 19th will be part of the team's alumni weekend that is held once every season.
