Every other player on the Commanders showed up for the first day and the team's conditioning test. McLaurin will be fined $50,000 each day he doesn't report to training camp.
McLaurin voiced his unhappiness in the team's efforts to give him a new contract. However, he wants to remain a Commander.
"I want to be here," said McLaurin. "I want to make that abundantly clear."
In 2022, the team signed him to a three-year, $68.3 million extension that is up after this upcoming year.
The two-time Pro Bowler and 2024 Second Team All-Pro selection has put up five straight seasons of at least 1,000 yards.
This past season, McLaurin put up a career-high 13 receiving touchdowns, which ranked second-most in the league behind Ja'Marr Chase's 17.
Commanders general manager Adam Peters said on Tuesday, "We're going to do everything we can in order to get a deal done."
The team is hopeful to get a deal done, but McLaurin's patience seems to be wearing thin as of late. The star wide receiver has shown in every way that he deserves a new contract.
Washington made it to the NFC Championship game this past season, ultimately losing to the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
