With the arrival of the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans on Thursday or Friday of next week, all the Super Bowl LIX-related events will kick off . Press conferences, face-offs, brand activations and more will reach their peak with the Sunday pregame show.
There is nothing like touching the hearts of the fans, and the stars of the 'Pregame Show' will do just that. For this endeavour, the NFL has been inclined to pay homage to Louisiana music by enlisting some prominent artists from there.
"We are honoured to work with this year's pre-game lineup to celebrate the rich musical legacy of New Orleans and the entire state," said Seth Dudowsky, the NFL's chief music officer, when the names were made official last November.
"The Super Bowl is an exceptional time to unite fans around the world, and this year's artists will bring the energy, soul and vibrant sounds of the region to a global stage as we kick off Super Bowl LIX with a celebration to remember," he added.
Thus, the man who will have the privilege of performing the anthem of the United States of America prior to Super Bowl LIX will be Jon Batiste, renowned for his piano skills. Given his body of work, an emotional performance is expected.
The Vince Lombardi trophy preview at Caesars Superdome will also feature 'America the Beautiful', which will be sung by musician and producer Trombone Shorty and Lauren Daigle. Finally, Ledisi will provide vocals for 'Lift Every Voice and Sing'.
All of the guests on the Super Bowl LIX 'Pregame Show' are proven artists who have won a Grammy at some point in their careers.
The main course
We all love the starters, but what everyone is looking forward to is the main course. That will be the 'Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show'. This year it will feature Californian rapper Kendrick Lamar as the headliner.
K-Dot will have the responsibility of keeping the level high after several editions in which we have enjoyed spectacular halftime shows. He takes over from Usher, who celebrated the 30th anniversary of his career in Las Vegas, but he is preceded by giants such as Rihanna (2023), The Weekend (2021) and Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Eminem, whom he accompanied in 2022 on stage at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
However, that pressure will probably not be a problem for the man considered by many to be the best rapper in history. The Compton native specialises in putting on great shows and is backed by hits such as'Humble', 'Not Like Us', 'All the Stars', 'Alright' and 'King Kunta', among others.
"Rap music remains the most impactful genre to date. And I'll be there to remind the world why," the 17-time Grammy winner said in a statement. "They got it right (in choosing him)," he added confidently.
Lamar will feature a special guest on the Caesars Superdome gridiron, Missouri singer SZA, with whom he has done several collaborations. She appeared on his recent album 'GNX' and was featured on a pair of songs, 'Gloria' and 'Luther'. Previously, they teamed up on 'All the Stars' and 'Doves in the Wind'.
The ingredients are in place for an exicting Super Bowl between the Eagles and Chiefs to delight the fans who congregate in New Orleans.
