The Milwaukee Brewers extended their winning streak to 10 games after taking the first of a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday.

They are now the 10th team since 1969 to have two or more winning streaks of 10+ games in the same season.

The Pirates became the Brewers' latest victim after a crushing 7-1 loss.

Jose Quintana earned his 10th win of the season for the Brewers as he lowered his earned run average to 3.44 on the year.

Christian Yelich and Brice Turang both homered during the win.

Milwaukee remains undefeated since Manager Pat Murphy brought out the pocket pancakes - a trend that became so viral that the Brewers started selling pocket pancakes at games.

The Brew Crew are, without a shred of doubt, the best team in baseball, and they are riding into the second half of August on a tear. They are now a full five games ahead of the next closest team and have outscored opponents 77-34 during the win streak, sweeping the Washington Nationals, Atlanta Braves, and New York Mets in that time.

Milwaukee has now also scored seven runs in three straight games and four of the last six.

They now have the second-most home runs (18) in August and the second-best batting average (.318). Their 77 runs are the most this month by a whopping 14 - Toronto Blue Jays have 63. No other teams in baseball have more than 60 runs this month.

Milwaukee leads the league in on-base percentage this month (.389) while also having the sixth-best team earned run average (3.40). Opponents are batting just .210 off the Brewers' pitching staff in August, giving up the sixth-fewest hits (69).

The Brewers are doing all this with the fifth-youngest lineup (26.9 years old) in all of baseball.
