Cincinnati Reds outfielder Austin Hays (29) hit two runs with six RBI in the team's 8-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday.
Hays ended up going 3-3 for the game with a double and two runs.
Hays signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Reds in the offseason. He's coming off a year where he was traded from the Baltimore Orioles to the Philadelphia Phillies, where he didn't see much playing time due to kidney problems.
Hays slashed .255/.303/.396/.699 with five home runs and 20 RBI in 85 games last season.
The former 2023 All-Star could possibly be the unsung hero signing of the MLB offseason if Hays can get back to form for the Reds and, most importantly, stay healthy.
The Reds will open up their regular season against the San Francisco Giants on March 27th.
