The Colorado Rockies placed veteran outfielder and designated hitter Kris Bryant (33) on the 10-day injured list with a lower back injury.

This will mark Bryant's ninth injured-list stint since signing a massive seven-year, $182 million deal with the Rockies in 2022.

The former National League MVP and World Series champion has missed playing time in the past with back injuries, most recently in 2016 when he went on the IL twice for the Chicago Cubs and again in 2022 when he missed almost two months.

Since joining the Rockies, Bryant has yet to finish a season playing in more than 80 games (which is less than half the season). In those four years, Bryant is slashing a poor .244/.324/.370 with just 17 home runs and 61 RBI.

Bryant is only hitting a .154 batting average for an abysmal Rockies team this season that set a franchise record with their 3-12 start.

The team, on pace for a historic MLB worst 32-130 record, recently went three straight games without scoring a single run for the first time ever in franchise history.
