The Tampa Bay Rays acquired right-handed pitcher Alex Faedo (29) in a trade with the Detroit Tigers on Monday.

Detroit will receive catcher Enderson Delgado (20) and cash considerations. The move comes after the Tigers originally designated Faedo for assignment after they signed relief pitcher Tommy Kahnle

Faedo has a rather solid season for the Tigers last year after going 5-3 out of the bullpen with a 3.61 ERA in 37 games. He threw 55 strikeouts to 28 walks while giving up 49 hits in 57.1 innings, posting his best year yet of the three years he's been in the league.

Faedo threw 4.45 ERA in 2023 and 5.53 in 2022. He was originally drafted by the Tigers in the 40th round of the 2014 MLB Draft out of Braulio Alonso High School, but elected to play in college at the University of Florida.

Detroit ended up drafting Faedo again with the 18th overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft.

Meanwhile, Delgado slashed .259/.382/.400/.782 with four home runs and 30 RBI through 65 games between Single-A and Rookie ball in the Rays' minor league system.
