Denmark on Monday night defended their European Championship title in 4000 meter pursuit in Turkey.

After setting a world record in the semi-final on Monday afternoon, the Danish quartet consisting of Lasse Normann Leth, Frederik Rodenberg, Rasmus Lund and Tobias Aagaard won the final against Switzerland on Monday evening.

The Danes completed the four kilometers on the cycle track in Turkish Konya in a time of three minutes and 42.330 seconds. The world record, set earlier in the day, was three minutes and 39.977 seconds.

The Danish team were favorites against Switzerland, and there was no doubt who would take the gold on Monday evening. The Danish team quickly built up a comfortable lead and won the final race by almost five seconds against Switzerland.

In addition to Lasse Normann Leth, Frederik Rodenberg, Rasmus Lund, and Tobias Aagaard, Robin Skivild has also been part of the 4000-meter team in Konya. He was thus among the four who took part in the qualifying heat on Sunday.

For the semi-final, he was replaced by Tobias Aagaard, who on Sunday used his strength to win gold in the elimination race. And Aagaard was thus chosen again for the final.
