Danish international goalkeeper Kevin Moller will leave Bundesliga outfit Flensburg-Handewitt after nine years in the services of the North German club. Moller will leave Flensburg at the end of this season, one year before his contract runs out, and Moller will return to his mother country to play for GOG.

Flensburg-Handewitt confirm the news in a video on Instagram.

36-year-old Moller has spent the past four years at the club after he returned home from Barcelona. Previously, he also spent four years at Flensburg-Handewitt, and when he stops this summer, he will have spent a total of nine seasons at the club.

The career continues in GOG, which have confirmed the Dane's arrival in a press release on Saturday afternoon.

"It is a really difficult decision. I think you know what this club means to me. I am really proud to have represented the club for such a long time", says a tearful Dane in the video.

Kevin Moller has won both the championship and the cup tournament in Germany with Flensburg-Handewitt. He also twice won Europe's second biggest club tournament, the European League, with the club.

Now he returns to GOG, who Moller represented from 2011 to 2014. The Danish club is looking forward to having such a large capacity between the posts, emphasizes sports manager Mikkel Voigt.

"In Kevin, we get quite simply one of the world's best goalkeepers, who will certainly contribute in many areas to our squad, and who most recently delivered at a very high level in Flensburg-Handewitt.

"At the same time, we look forward to getting a good role model into the team, who the young people can learn from. Overall, we get a goalkeeper who is at the top of his career and can move GOG in a positive direction, says the sports director in the announcement.

Kevin Moller has also been playing for the Danish national team for a long time, with whom he has won the World Cup three times. He also helped win silver at the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo.
