As always, the National Hockey League (NHL) had a busy Saturday. Fourteen games occurred across the day as the race for the postseason intensifies. Here is a look at a couple of the matches that took place.

Nashville Predators 5-2 Toronto Maple Leafs

The Nashville Predators came from two goals down to top the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2. It was a great start for the guests, who got goals from John Tavares and Mitchell Marner midway through the opening period. That put them in a great spot going into the first intermission.

It would not last for the Torontonians, as the Predators got one back just 99 seconds into the second through Michael Bunting on a power play. Nashville tied things up 9:15 in the frame through Kieffer Bellows. Then, just before the second intermission, Filip Forsberg scored the first of his two goals in the game overturning the deficit.

Luke Evangelista added a fourth with a little less than 10 minutes to go in regulation, before Forsberg iced the game with an empty netter to complete the scoring. The win puts the Predators on 60 points, ending a four-game losing skid. As for the Leafs, their run of three straight wins comes to an end. They remain third in the Eastern Conference on 87 points.

New York Rangers 5-3 Vancouver Canucks

In what was a back-and-forth encounter, the New York Rangers topped the Vancouver Canucks 5-3. It would be Dakota Joshua who put the away side in front 11:51 into the match. That was the only goal of the opening period. Adam Fox tied things up for the Rangers midway through the second, before the third period became a goalscoring frenzy.

First, Jonny Brodzinski put the hosts in front 99 seconds into the final frame. About 10 minutes later, Drew Connor levelled the score. That would not last long, as New York went back up a minute after via Andre Miller. However, Vancouver would not give up, and restored parity with 4:50 left through Brock Boeser.

Once again, the Canucks conceded shortly thereafter as Brodzinski added his second of the game 37 seconds after. J. T. Miller guaranteed the win for the Rangers with an empty net goal 13 seconds from time.

The Rangers are now a point behind the Montreal Canadiens for the final postseason berth in the East, ending a three-game losing streak. As for the Canucks, their second loss in a row puts them three points behind the St. Louis Blues for the final playoff spot in the West.
