Sweden have reached the Semi-finals of the women's ice hockey competition at the 2026 Winter Olympics, thanks to a 2-0 victory over Czech Republic in Milan.

Four wins from four had seen Sweden finish top of Group B, but a first test against a side from the higher-ranked Group A was going to provide a sterner test, even if Czech Republic had only picked up one victory from their group matches.

So it was proving in a tight first period which saw both sides have six shots on goal each, yet Sweden could consider themselves the happier, as they survived two powerplays, while the Czechs managed not to concede a penalty.

Early in the second period, Sweden not only secured their first powerplay - as Tereza Vanisova was called for interference on the goaltender - but they made their opponents pay, as patient build-up play created space for Hanna Olsson to fire from the left side with 04:47 played in the period.

Olsson came agonisingly close to a second when her shot from the centre struck the post, as further powerplays gave the Swedes more attacking opportunities, but 1-0 was how it stayed until the end of two.

Interference and cross-checking calls against Thea Johansson in the third period took Tre Kronor's total penalty minutes to 10, with Johansson responsible for eight of those. Thankfully for her, her teammates stood firm in defence, meaning the Czechs still trailed with 02:40 to play.

Czechia Republic pulled their goaltender with a minute to play, but when Anna Kjellbin cleared the Swedish zone, Hilda Svensson sprinted away to poke the puck into the empty net for 2-0 and a place in the Semi-finals.

Sweden put in one last stand to hold onto a shutout, with Ebba Svensson making 29 saves for her second clean sheet of the competition. Sweden will now wait to discover their next opponents, as teams are re-seeded after the Quarter-finals.
