It's 30 matches played, 26 wins and 75 points for runaway Swedish Hockey League (SHL) leaders Frolunda at the turn of the year, as they signed off for 2025 with a 5-3 home success over Farjestad.

The New Year party in Gothenburg got underway in the 17th minute when Linus Weissbach put Frolunda ahead, though the home side were fortunate to stay in front after Farjestad had a goal disallowed, then the visitors failed to take advantage of a pair of powerplays.

Two goals in two second-period minutes then gave Frolunda plenty of breathing space, as Max Lindholm and Noah Hasa got their names on the scoresheet.

However, it was game on again with 20 minutes to play, as Albert Wikman got Farjestad on the board with 90 seconds to play in the second period, before Joel Kellman made it 3-2 with only one second of the period to play.

But Frolunda were not about to be upstaged in front of a packed Scandinavium - they restored their two-goal cushion five minutes into the third period, courtesy of Linus Hogberg, before Nicklas Lasu all but put the game beyond doubt with under 12 minutes to play.

Viktor Lodin responded with what turned out to be a consolation, as Frolunda sealed a 5-3 victory which ends a two-match winning streak for sixth-placed Farjestad.

Frolunda's lead on 1st January will be 15 points, after second-placed Skelleftea put their three-match losing run with a 3-1 victory over Brynas, who slip out of the Playoff places entirely with a third defeat in four.

Skelleftea have put three points between themselves and Rogle, as the latter fell to a 3-2 defeat after penalties at the hands of the side immediately below them - Vaxjo - who are two points further back following successive 3-2 wins.

Felix Robert put the Lakers ahead after 33 seconds, and the home side would not score again until six seconds from the end, as Lukas Elvenes sent the match to overtime after Filip Johansson and Felix Nilsson had scored for Rogle in period two.

After no one found the net in overtime or after five penalties, Sebastian Strandberg stepped up and scored Vaxjo's third penalty to win the match for the home side in the shootout.

Malmo finished the year in fifth place after they surrendered a 2-0 lead at HV 71 before securing a 3-2 win in overtime thanks to Lauri Pajuniemi's winner. The Redhawks return to winning ways, while the Jonkoping side remain five points from safety following back-to-back losses.

Only Frolunda have a better winning run than that of Lulea - the champions earned a fifth win in a row by beating Djurgarden 4-3, a win that has them sitting a place and a point behind their Stockholm opponents, in seventh and eighth, respectively.

Leksand end 2025 five points adrift at the bottom of the table, as they lost a thriller 5-4 away at Timra after Sebtastian Hartmann grabbed the winner in overtime. Two victories in their final three games of the year have seen Timra stop their recent rot, as they sit ninth.

Three unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes not only gave Linkoping a 4-3 victory over Orebro, but it sees them overhaul both their opponents and Brynas to climb into the 10th and final Playoff place. Orebro's three-match losing run is now the longest in the SHL.
