Juventus were clinical on their way to a comfortable 5-0 victory over Cremonese in Serie A, extending their perfect record in H2Hs against Le Tigri this century to four matches.

La Vecchia Signora looked comfortable in the opening stages and came agonisingly close to going ahead, as Jonathan David pounced on a lax pass and hit the post from a tight angle.

The hosts didn’t have to wait much longer for their opener, which came with a slice of fortune in the 12th minute as Fabio Miretti’s strike took a deflection off Gleison Bremer to wrongfoot Emil Audero on its way in.

Their second arrived just three minutes later, with Khephren Thuram sprinting up the pitch and offloading the ball to David for the striker to take a touch and coolly finish.

Cremonese thought they had their chance to respond when a penalty was initially awarded for Manuel Locatelli’s challenge on Dennis Johnsen, but the decision was overturned, and Davide Nicola was sent to the stands in the aftermath.

Le Tigri’s frustrations were further compounded when a spot-kick was given at the other end after Federico Baschirotto handled Thuram’s attempt, especially as Kenan Yildiz’s initial penalty was tipped onto the post and the ball bounced back for him to score.

Yildiz then danced inside but was denied by Audero, and Weston McKennie headed wide from the ensuing corner.

The visitors’ sense of disbelief returned within three minutes of the restart, as McKennie rounded Audero and Matteo Bianchetti’s attempt to clear his shot merely resulted in the ball bouncing in off Filippo Terracciano for an own goal.

Audero denied McKennie and Yıldız shortly after, but Juventus refused to let up, and a McKennie header in the 64th minute left the Cremonese goalkeeper helpless despite getting a slight touch on it.

Le Tigri were then denied a consolation as Michele Di Gregorio made a brilliant save to deny Alberto Grassi, and Bianchetti’s goal from the ensuing corner was ruled out due to a handball.

David saw a goal of his own chalked off for offside, but Juventus’ hard work had long been done as they recorded a sixth win from their last seven matches across all competitions.

As a result, they go fourth in the Serie A table, four points behind league leaders Inter Milan, although La Vecchia Signora have played a game more. Meanwhile, Cremonese sit 13th after the fourth defeat from their last six contests.
