Both teams began with a sense of urgency, and the hosts almost opened the scoring when Rassoul Ndiaye’s shot flew a whisker wide. Monaco slowly played themselves into the match, but a Maghnes Akliouche half-volley aside, they offered little in the way of goal threat.
Indeed, neither goalkeeper had a save to make in the opening 25 minutes, with a scrappy midfield battle seeing much of the play being kept between the two penalty areas.
Kassoum Outtarra’s wild swipe at the ball when well placed was in keeping with the previous 35 minutes of action as the visitors attempted to force the issue.
They eventually moved into the ascendancy as half-time approached, though any half-chances were either safely gathered by Lionel Mpasi or snuffed out at the source.

Loïc Négo had Phillip Köhn briefly on his toes as his first-time shot flew just over soon after the break, whilst Ansu Fati injected some pace into Monaco’s attack, which had the home defence on the back foot, soon after his introduction shortly before the hour mark.
At the other end, a superb curling effort from Aleksandr Golovin had Lionel Mpasi scrambling before dropping agonisingly wide, while Denis Zakaria should’ve done much more than flash a presentable chance wide when unmarked in the box.
Inside the last 20 minutes, Monaco began to build up some steam as Folarin Balogun went close twice. The visitors, though, also started to show more attacking threat, yet were unable to take their chances.
Ultimately, the result was a fair one, and did at least see Monaco avoid an eighth defeat in their last nine Ligue 1 matches.
Le Havre, meanwhile, move up to 13th in the table, although their solid start to the calendar year will surely come under threat when they travel to title-chasing RC Lens on Friday.
