The NFL saw a drastic influx in key injuries after Week 2 had ended - primarily with starting quarterbacks.

The upcoming week of NFL games is going to see a handful of backup QBs as teams took some drastic hits this past weekend.

Week of fallen QBs

To start, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will miss at least three months after being diagnosed with a Grade 3 turf toe injury that will require surgery.

Staying on a similar track, Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy will be out for Week 3's game against the Bengals due to an ankle injury.

Leaving a Thursday night showdown between backup QBs Jake Browning (CIN) and Carson Wentz (MIN). Minnesota also lost running back Aaron Jones after he was placed on the injured reserve with a hamstring injury, meaning he's out for at least four weeks.

New York Jets starting QB Justin Fields is likely out for Week 3 due to a concussion he sustained on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills

Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels' Week 3 status is doubtful after an MRI revealed he suffered a knee sprain. No other quarterback in the NFL has been hit more than Daniels to start the season - a stat he led among all quarterbacks in 2024 as well.

And San Francisco will continue to be without quarterback Brock Purdy as he recovers from a turf toe injury.

Other significant injuries

The Chicago Bears will be without All-Pro cornerback Jaylon Johnson for quite some time (ruled 'out indefinitely') with a groin injury.

Defensive tackle Vernon Broughton (New Orleans Saints) has been ruled out for the season with a hip injury. Los Angeles Rams cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon has also been ruled out for the season with a broken collarbone.

The Carolina Panthers lost a pair of starting offensive linemen as guard Robert Hunt is out for the year with torn biceps, and center Austin Corbett is out with a torn MCL.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers right tackle Luke Goedeke will miss multiple weeks after re-aggravating a foot injury.

The Los Angeles Chargers could be without star EDGE rusher Khalil Mack for quite some time after he dislocated his elbow during Monday night's game against the Raiders.

And to top it all off? Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay tore his plantar fascia (foot).
