Sabres 5-3 Maple Leafs
After both teams exchanged goals to put the game at 2-2 heading into the second period, Buffalo's Tage Thompson (2) and Mattias Samuelsson (2) put the Sabres up 4-2 in the second, leaving the Leafs little room for a comeback.
Dakota Joshua would score his first goal of the season to cut the lead to 4-3, but an empty-netter from Alex Tuch (3) was the final nail in the coffin to give Buffalo the win.

Devils 3-1 Sharks
After William Eklund (2) got the Sharks on the board first, it was all New Jersey the rest of the way, despite some highlight saves from San Jose goaltender Yaroslav Askarov.
Dougie Hamilton (3) would put up two goals in the second to give New Jersey a 2-1 lead before Connor Brown (4) put one in the empty net to seal the win. New Jersey outshot San Jose 30-17 after the Sharks didn't record a single shot on goal in the second period.
New Jersey improved to 7-1-0 having now won seven straight, San Jose fell to 1-5-2.
Capitals 5-1 Blue Jackets
After John Carlson got the Caps out to a 1-0 lead in the second period, Alexander Ovechkin (2) got things started in the third with his 899th career goal - needing just one more to become the only hockey player in human history to eclipse 900 career goals.
Justin Sourdif scored his first of the season to give the Caps a commanding 3-0 before Denton Mateychuk (2) finally got the Blue Jackets on the board. But a pair of power-play goals from Tom Wilson (5) and Connor McMichael (1) was more than enough for a win.
Caps improved to 6-2-0, Blue Jackets fell to 3-4-0.
Jets 5-3 Flames
Nazem Kadri (1) got the Flames on the board first to start the game, but Winnipeg responded with three straight goals from Kyle Connor (4), Jonathan Toews (2), Gabriel Vilardi (1) in the second period.
Mikael Backlund (2) would cut the lead to 3-2 for the Flames. Yet again, Winnipeg responded with their second power-play goal of the period, courtesy of Alex Iafallo (2).
Blake Coleman (3) would add one more for the Flames to cut the lead to 4-3 before Vladislav Namestnikov (3) wrapped it up with an empty-netter for Winnipeg.
The Jets improved to 6-2-0, Calgary fell to a league-worst 1-7-1.
