The Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders combined for eight goals in the second period during Monday's crucial matchup as the Metropolitan Division race heats up!

Penguins 8-3 Islanders

After the Islanders took a 3-1 lead in the second, the Penguins would score four straight to make it eight total goals in the period - tying the most in a period by two teams this season. 

Pittsburgh scored seven-straight unanswered goals as both Rickard Rakell (19) and Anthony Mantha (29) scored two goals each, lifting the team ahead of the Islanders in the Metro Division with a 37-21-16 record (90 points). Meanwhile, the Islanders fell to 42-28-5 (89 points). 

Sidney Crosby now possesses the third-most multi-point games (514) all-time after putting up two assists during the game, also marking 1,100 assists, which is eighth-most all-time.
