Late Monday night AS Roma announced they had signed the Danish international defender Victor Nelsson on loan.

The 26-year-old Danish centre-back joins the Giallorossi on a loan deal with an option to buy, and will be an exciting addition to Claudio Ranieri’s squad given their previous defensive worries.

Roma expresses their satisfaction at securing Nelsson’s services in a statement relased by the club.

“AS Roma are pleased to announce the signing of Victor Nelsson from Galatasaray. The deal has been completed as a loan with an option to buy.”

Nelsson thus becomes the fifth Dane in the capital club, which previously over the years have had Helge Bronée, Klaus Berggreen, Simon Kjær and Rasmus Nissen Kristensen in their squad.

Fabrizio Romano has previously said that the Italians will pay around 1 million EURO to rent the defender.

Born in Denmark in 1998, the defender first made a name for himself in his homeland, showcasing his talents with FC Nordsjaelland before moving to FC Copenhagen and eventually Galatasaray in 2021.

Nelsson has gone dowwn the pecking down order at Galatasaray and has been on the verge of leaving the club in previous transfer windows.

In 2025, Victor Nelsson has only had a couple of appearances where he came on as a substitute at the end of a match.

In the autumn, he was also a marginal player in Galatasaray, where he has only played 90 minutes twice in the league.
