Shaun Murphy upset Mark Selby on Saturday night to reach the final of the British Open in Cheltenham, while Anthony McGill overcame John Higgins.
Murphy was in imperious form, seizing the initiative from the off and denying defending champion Selby the chance to settle into his trademark tactical rhythm.
Selby, normally one of the game’s great match players, could offer little resistance as Murphy swept through at 6-1.
In the other semi-final, McGill beat his fellow Scot Higgins 6-3.
McGill took advantage of uncharacteristic errors from the four-time world champion and kept his composure at key points to underline his improved performances.
