Volendam already clinched promotion to the Eredivisie after beating Jong AZ 1-0 on April 14th. It was a record-extending 11th promotion to the highest tier of Dutch football for The Other Oranje.
Manager Rick Kruys' team, which was relegated to the second tier after last season, improved to 79 points with Monday's victory - eight more than second-placed Excelsior Rotterdam. Excelsior could clinch promotion to the Eredivisie this Friday with a win over Jong PSV.
FC Volendam won their first title since the 2007/08 season under the guidance of the clinical striker partnership of Henk Veerman and Robert Muhren. Veerman improved his season tally to a league-leading 26 goals after netting a hat-trick against Jong FC Utrecht, while Muhren follows Veerman in second with 17.

Veerman got Volendam going against Jong FC Utrecht with his opener in the 32nd minute, but saw his side go down before half-time thanks to goals from Lyden Edhart and Massien Ghaddari. Following the break, Veerman, a Volendam native, restored his team's lead with two goals inside 20 minutes. The visitors held onto their lead and thus clinched their first title in 17 years.
Monday's title win was Volendam's seventh in the second tier of Dutch football - at least three more than any other club in Dutch football history. Volendam won the league on their second try after a potentially title-clinching home game against Excelsior ended in a rather shocking 4-1 loss.
