AZ have dropped points for a fourth consecutive Eredivisie game as lowly RKC Waalwijk took a point home from their visit to Alkmaar.

AZ drew two consecutive games, including last weekend when a 3-1 lead was squandered in the final 30 minutes of the away game at NEC Nijmegen. Meanwhile, RKC Waalwijk were looking to pick up points for the first time since February 9th and four consecutive Eredivisie defeats.

The hopes of the visitors took a beating early on as former Spurs striker Troy Parrott clinically punished RKC for a mistake in the build-up. The side from Waalwijk lost the ball in front of their own box thanks to a hunting Ibrahim Sadiq, who put served Parrott a golden opportunity in a one-on-one with Jeroen Houwen.

A single opportunity from Peer Koopmeiners concluded an otherwise slow first half, but it wouldn't take long for the second half to get off to a good start.

Michiel Kramer scored his first Eredivisie goal in nigh-on a year as Yassin Oukili delivered a perfect cross to the tall striker, who was then able to neatly slot it in the bottom corner.

Chris Lokesa then put relegation-threatened RKC in front twenty minutes later after easily playing his way past Alexandre Penetra and putting the ball in the far corner with a curling effort.

RKC's lead would not last long as Mexx Meerdink equalised just two minutes later with a half-volley and his seventh goal of the season, all of which came as a substitute.

The home side came close one more time with teenage prodigy Kees Smit testing Houwen, but the stopper handled the shot adequately.

Their third consecutive draw meant AZ could see Feyenoord take a 7-point lead over their rivals with a win over FC Groningen. RKC Waalwijk left the last spot in the Eredivisie standings and equal Almere City on points with 18 from 27 games.
