PSV long could not get a grip on the game and only managed to fire a shot at goal in the 50th minute, making this the first home game since january 2021 in which PSV didn't register a shot on goal in the first half.
"We were sloppy in passing before halftime. And when we lost the ball, it was immediately wide open", Bosz said about his team.
"No, we had no control over the game. It was logical that we were down 1-0 at halftime"

The reigning champions equalised deep in the second half, but fell behind quickly again thansk to a nifty Mexx Meerdink header which Bosz called "exemplary" of his side's sloppiness.
"That ball was on its way for a very long time. And yet AZ were able to head it in. That says a lot about the sharpness with which we played.
"That was not good. Maybe that's why we should cherish this point.”
No wake-up call
PSV entered the first Eredivisie weekend of 2025 with a 6-point lead, but saw Ajax close the gap to 4 points after their win against RKC Waalwijk.

But whereas striker Luuk de Jong called the draw a "wake-up call", Bosz refused to call it that and called his team to find more urgency.
"I don't like a wake-up call. This was just a big game and I don't think you need a wake-up call to realize you have to play with the knife between your teeth.
"It was insufficient. It has to be better.”
