FC Utrecht have announced the return of Ivorian international Sebastien Haller (30) after the third-placed Eredivisie side and Borussia Dortmund reached an agreement on a loan deal for the striker.

Haller spent two years at FC Utrecht prior to his stays at Eintracht Frankfurt, West Ham, Ajax, and Borussia Dortmund. The French-Ivorian striker spent the last six months on loan at Leganes in the Spanish LaLiga.

The 30-year-old joined Utrecht in 2015 on a loan from French side Auxerre and made an immediate impact by becoming the club's top goalscorer with 11 goals.

After having completed a permanent move, Haller would go on to score 40 more goals in all competitions for Utrecht in the next two seasons. The tall striker joined Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, but promised to "one day, return to FC Utrecht".

Haller now rejoins Utrecht on a six-month deal following a dire loan spell at Leganes and having expressed a “lack of excitement” towards the game of football.

"It feels like coming home", Haller said on the team's website. "Everyone knows my situation. I would like to play a lot again and show myself somewhere for five months."

"I am now thirty years old and have been through a lot. Then to go somewhere for five months and temporarily leave your wife and children behind is not easy."

"Actually, there was only one club I wanted to go to for such a short period. If it hadn't been Utrecht, it would have been difficult.”
