As Telstar, who debuted their newly released third kit, got ready to play their first Eredivisie game at home in 37 years, manager Anthony Correia fielded an unchanged side from last week's 2-0 loss away at Ajax.
PEC Zwolle, who beat FC Twente 1-0 on the opening weekend, followed suit and started the same eleven players.

PEC boss Henry van der Vegt's confidence in his players paid off very quickly when Koen Kostons opened the scoring after four minutes. A poor mistake from Dewon Koswal allowed Kaj de Rooij to rush towards Ronald Koeman's goal and lay the ball off to Kostons, who put PEC up 1-0 in front of an open goal.
Telstar forward Tyrese Noslin created Telstar's two biggest chances of the first half, but goalkeeper Tom de Graaff prevented the home crowd from celebrating a memorable goal.
Eredivisie history
A tame second half was broken open by Danny Bakker, who almost got Telstar alongside PEC, but De Graaff stopped his low effort from a corner.
Instead, it was Koen Kostons who scored his second of the night and put PEC up two after 58 minutes, again thanks to an assist from Kaj de Rooij, who put Kostons in front of an open goal.
Eredivisie history was rewritten late in the second half: Jadiel Pereira da Gama became the youngest player in Eredivisie history when he replaced Jamiro Monteiro, aged 15 years and 243 days.
PEC Zwolle held the lead firmly in their grasp and deservedly took home all three points. PEC host FC Utrecht in Zwolle next, with kick-off scheduled for Sunday, August 31st, at 14.30 CET.
Telstar will continue their search for the first Eredivisie win in decades at home next week, when fellow promoted side FC Volendam come to visit Velsen-Zuid.
