A penalty from Erling Haaland was enough for Norway to continue their perfect record in 2025 and beat Finland 1-0 in an international friendly in Oslo.

The meeting between the Nordic pair at Ullevaal Stadion would not be the most important fixture for either side, with 2026 World Cup qualifiers to come next week. With that in mind, Finland boss Jacob Friis named an experimental line-up for the clash.

Norway, meanwhile, named a host of stars in their starting XI, and it was no surprise that they dominated the early proceedings, and that pressure told with just over 15 minutes on the clock, when Topi Keskinen fouled Andreas Schjelderup inside the area.

Erling Haaland stepped up to take the resulting penalty, and dispatched it past Viljami Sinisalo to score his 43rd goal in 44 international appearances.

Norway continued to have the better of the first half, but the Eagle Owls held out to keep the deficit at one. A moment to savour for the visitors came at half-time, when Oiva Jukkola and Adam Marhiev were brought on for their senior international debuts.

Marhiev looked bright, albeit in a side which created few genuine chances across the entire 90 minutes, as Stale Solbakken's side looked the more likely to score the second goal which ultimately never came.

The 1-0 win extends Norway's winning run to seven matches, and provides adequate preparation for their Group I qualifier against Moldova on Tuesday, as they look to reach a first major tournament since UEFA EURO 2000.

Finland will be hoping to cause more of an attacking threat on Sunday when they travel to Poland for a huge qualifier in Group G on Sunday, by which time they will have lost first place in the group to either the Poles or the Netherlands, who meet tonight.
