What has been an open secret for the last week has been officially confirmed this Thursday. The defender from Camas, who had been inactive since the end of last season with Sevilla, has joined Mexican side Rayados de Monterrey.

Sergio Ramos (38) is now a Rayados de Monterrey player. The Monterrey club have completed the most important signing in their history with their sights set on the Club World Cup to be played this summer in the United States.

The Sevilla centre-back, a World Cup and two-time European champion with Spain and four-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid, had several options, including Boca Juniors, MLS and the Saudi Arabian league, but in the end he will move to Mexico.

Ramos will return to football after almost eight months without competing at an official level. Last Monday, Sergio Ramos underwent a medical examination at the Olympia Salud Quirón clinic, where he arrived accompanied by several members of the Rayados board with his brother and agent, René Ramos.

After passing the medical tests, he has committed to Rayados and the club made official on Thursday one of the most eagerly awaited announcements in its history.

Canales and Oliver Torres

In Monterrey, Sergio Ramos will be joined by two other Spanish players: Sergio Canales and Oliver Torres. In addition, there are old LaLiga acquaintances such as Lucas Ocampos, Hector Moreno and Jesus (Tecatito) Corona.
