Ajax wonderkid Jorrel Hato will become Ajax's fifth most expensive outgoing transfer in club history after an agreement was reached between the Amsterdam side and Chelsea.

Chelsea have agreed to pay €43 million for the 19-year-old defender, who leaves Ajax after an otherworldly amount of 111 senior games since his debut in February 2023, when the wonderkid was 16 years, 10 months, and 29 days old.

Fifth most expensive Ajax player ever

Hato's price tag of €43 million puts the versatile defender on a shared fifth spot in Ajax's rankings of most expensive outgoing transfers. Mohammed Kudus cost West Ham the same when the Hammers bought the Ghanaian star in 2023.

Antony leads the impressive list of sales for the Amsterdam giants, taking the cake with a staggering €95 million move to Manchester United in 2022.

Frenkie de Jong follows with his €86 million move to FC Barcelona, upping Mathijs de Ligt's €85.5 million move to Juventus by just half a million. Both players left Amsterdam after their famous 2018/19 season, in which the four-time European champions reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Lisandro Martinez's €57 million move to Manchester United in 2023 completes the top four.

Hato's big-money move just pips Davinson Sanchez's €42 million move to Tottenham Hotspur in 2017, and the Premier League transfers of Jurrien Timber and Hakim Ziyech, who joined Arsenal and Chelsea for €40 million in 2023 and 2020.
