Liverpool’s start was promising, but they were made to pay for their wastefulness almost immediately after Cody Gakpo dragged his effort wide of Bernd Leno’s far post.
Jorge Cuenca’s forward pass was ingeniously flicked beyond the visiting defence by Raul Jimenez, allowing Harry Wilson to break through and bury a low finish into the far corner. Despite being flagged offside in the first instance, a lengthy VAR check confirmed the Welshman’s sixth PL goal of the season.
That took the away side by surprise, but they did very little to respond to it, having just one shot through Curtis Jones prior to the break.

Their threat increased significantly in the second half though, as Alexis Mac Allister crashed a close-range header onto the bar in the lead up to his side drawing level.
Conor Bradley surged forward and into the area before flicking the ball on to Florian Wirtz, who curled a left-footed finish beyond Leno – his second in three matches. Interestingly, the offside flag was again raised before VAR intervened to allow the goal.
Having not experienced much joy in the final third since their opener, Fulham pushed forward to try to retake the lead.
Their best chance came when Alisson was caught out of position in stopping Jimenez from racing through, prompting Wilson to lift his shot over the crowd and onto the bar of the empty goal.
They continued trying to disrupt Liverpool’s play, but the Reds hit what looked to be a last-gasp winner when Jeremie Frimpong’s whipped cross was allowed to make it through to the back post, where Gakpo arrived to tap in.
But there was to be one final twist in Fulham’s favour. Having come on just moments before Liverpool’s second goal, Reed picked it up on the edge of the area and unleashed a stunning, dipping strike which found the top corner via the underside of the bar.
It preserves Fulham’s longest unbeaten run in the PL for a calendar year, while Liverpool will be frustrated to record their fourth stalemate in seven league outings.
