Newcastle travel to Merseyside after their midweek Champions League defeat at Olympique Marseille. However, there is confidence inside the squad after the victory against Manchester City last weekend.
"We did use it as a catalyst to a degree with a strong start in Marseille. Overall, I thought it was a strong performance from us," Howe said.
"It wasn't perfect because we didn't win the game, so it's about how we handle that disappointment for this game and move forward towards another tough Premier League game.
"We decided to come back straight after the game (at Marseille) and tried to get back into our normal routine and rhythms. I thought the players looked well and we will get a better gauge today.
"The games bring different challenges. Fatigue is the big one, and not always necessarily physical fatigue, but mental fatigue, because it always feels like you are preparing for a game. We are trying to keep things fresh. It's another game and then very quickly there is another game again."
On playing at Everton's new stadium for the first time, Howe says they travel with no expectations. He explained, "Any new stadium is an interesting one.
"We know the old stadium very well and it had its charms and it was a ferocious atmosphere down there. The only way we will truly enjoy it is if we put in a performance and get a result."
Goalkeeper rotation
Howe admits he hasn't made a decision over who will be between the posts tomorrow. Doubts are being raised over Nick Pope after his shaky performance in France.
With Aaron Ramsdale ready and willing to step in, the manager continued: "All options are on the table. I need to think long and hard about who I pick and I will try and do that on merit. I get the luxury of seeing the players every day, goalkeepers included. I think Nick is vastly experienced and a very level character.
"You don't see huge highs or lows. He is very relaxed and absorbs it all. Of course, I discuss things with all my players but Nick is a top-class professional and an outstanding goalkeeper and he has made a number of top-class saves for us this season."
Howe added: "You don't necessarily naturally rotate goalkeepers. It is a position where you give the defenders continuity and knowledge of how that goalkeeper plays. Changing a goalkeeper is an option, of course, but it is a big decision to make. It is something for me to consider."
Barnes and Willock form
Meanwhile, Howe also looked back on Harvey Barnes' outstanding form so far this season. The winger now has seven goals in 19 appearances already this term.
Howe said: "Harvey's playing well and looks like he has good confidence. Physically, he looks really strong. Harvey is a goal creator and a really good finish and I think you saw that again on Tuesday and if you put that together with his two Man City goals, he is bang on form and hopefully that continues."
The manager also drew positives from a fit-again Joe Willock's performance in the midweek defeat at the Velodrome. Howe admits he is expecting more from the midfielder as his match fitness improves.
"I think Joe was excellent. We picked him because of a few different things. How he's trained, he has trained really well across the last few weeks and his attitude has been excellent.
"But also running capability, his speed and athleticism and I think that is his best performance since his injury. When you've had an injury as serious as Joe's, it can take a while to get back to your best but I am really pleased with him."
Wissa latest
Before signing off, Howe confirmed a month-long absence for full-back Kieran Trippier due to a hamstring pull, while Emile Krafth has collected a minor knee strain while away with Sweden last week.
Asked for the latest on summer signing Yoane Wissa's recovery from his knee injury, Howe concluded: "Yoane's going well and trained with us for the first time when we came back from Marseille.
"We were really pleased with how he looked. We have got a date in mind but we will keep that to ourselves. We want him involved as soon as possible."
