Former Ajax and Inter star Wesley Sneijder has stated that Manchester United's Benjamin Sesko can never be like his idol.

Back in August, Benjamin Sesko revealed that legendary forward and former Manchester United icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic is his biggest role model as he forges his own career.

“He’s been my role model since I was small. I've been watching him, like every single YouTube video that I can find, because he's just amazing for me, you know," Sesko said on Manchester United's club channels.

“But I like to see him, the way he plays, the way he enjoys football, because that's when all the joy comes, you know. If you enjoy football, then everything works. And I think this is the most important.

“It's probably also one of the parts that just makes me love him so much, you know what I mean? So maybe one day to meet him, that would be great. He's my idol.”

However, speaking to AdventureGamers.com, Wesley Sneijder, who played with Ibrahimovic at Ajax, has opened up Sesko’s comments and revealed that the young striker must become the inspiration rather than look to become someone else.

“There are two different things. You can have an idol and adopt the same qualities as your idol, or try to get close to his level," Sneijder said.

"But Zlatan is unique. Zlatan is something different. When Zlatan came to Ajax, I already knew when he was 17 that he would become a big star with his personality, too."

“But it's always good to have an idol and to look up to someone and to try to follow his path. That's amazing. And of course (Benjamin) Sesko has qualities, but he can never be Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“He has to create his own style and become a different, unique version of Zlatan, to try to create other youngsters that want to be you.”

Sesko has made a slow start to life at under United boss Ruben Amorim, scoring two goals and bagging one assist in 12 appearances.

The 22-year-old now has the international break to try and fix his form, and may take Sneijder’s comments on board as he tries to become a name to remember at the club.
