The club announced the news on their website, specifying that the new first-team coach has signed a contract that will bind him to Pisa until 30 June 2027 with an option.
Hiljemark was identified as the ideal replacement once Alberto Gilardino was dismissed, after recording just one Serie A victory all season, 11 draws, and 11 defeats.
Hiljemark is no stranger to Italian football, as he has amassed plenty of experience in the Serie A as a midfielder with Palermo and Genoa from 2015 to 2019.
He brought down the curtain on his career in Aalborg in 2021 and immediately went into management as an assistant, then took charge in March 2023.
