AGF, backed up by a sell-out crowd at Ceres Park Vejlby, began confidently and took control of proceedings in the opening part of the game. They also came very close to taking the lead after 20 minutes, when Frederik Emery launched a mazy run through the Brondby defense only for his strong close-range effort to bounce off the crossbar into safety.
But Brondby gradually dug themselves back into the match with a massive physical effort in midfield from Daniel Wass, while Nicolai Vallys began to show his creativity, which allowed Brondby to fashion a couple of opportunities where Marko Divkovic and Jacob Ambaek had chances to put the visitors ahead.
Just before the break, AGF came close to awarding Brondby their first goal this year when Janni Serra headed the ball towards his own net, but Eric Kahl saved on the line, while Brondby's players appealed for the ball being over the line.
AGF gained much better control of the match in the second half, and when Gift Links from the edge of the box tried to curl the ball into the far corner, Patrick Pentz came up with a terrific save in the Brondby goal to keep the game scoreless.
With five minutes left in regular time, Pentz again denied the league leaders another win when he produced a superb save to prevent Tobias Bech's curling free-kick from hitting the net.
