The management at AGF are unhappy with saving-plans which a steering committee from the Aaarhus municipality presented on Monday for the new stadium which is under construction.

Politicians already launched plans for saving 21 million Danish kroner (2,8 million EUROs) on the huge stadium-project in February but they are still 35 millions short (4,7 million EUROs) in order to balance the books after it has been revealed that the project which initially was set to cost around 750 million Danish kroner (aournd 100 million EUROs) will cost an extra 250 million Danish kroner (around 33 million EUROs).

The steering committee have launched proposals for saving funds through reducing the number of seats, reducing the quality of seats, changing design-elements in the structure of the stadium and changing floor types.

In addition there is speculation that the construction will not meet the deadline of being ready in the beginning of 2027 while there are also concerns around the number of parking spaces.

"We have great respect for the situation that the project is in, which is why we have also contributed much more to the financing of the city's new stadium over the past two years than originally agreed."

"At the same time, we are suffering major operating losses due to the delays, for which we are not responsible. We are afraid what this will come to. The situation is quite unsustainable for us as a football club and company", say members of the AGF management in a letter to Aarhus Stifstidende.

The AGF management are concerned that it will affect the club's business model if the capacity for football matches and concerts is reduced, if the parking conditions are not as promised, and if the quality of a number of facilities in the VIP area - including seat quality, design elements and technical installations is reduced.

The club will not accept elements of the saving plan, say the AGF management and point out that any savings and deterioration must also be reflected in the still undetermined lease agreement between the municipality and AGF.
