A penalty conversion was enough to give FC Copenhagen three points in the top clash against FC Midtjylland, Patrick Mortensen continued his scoring spree in Aarhus, Vejle sprung another surprise against Brondby and Sonderjyske couldn't stop FC Nordsjaelland's potent attack in the second round of the Danish Superliga after the restart.

AGF - AaB

There was a lot criticism from the local media when AGF recently chose to extend the contract with 35-year old striker Patrick Mortensen. But since then he has shown that he is worth every penny for the Aarhus club as he has scored no less than five goals for Uwe Rösler’s side since the restart of the domestic Danish league.

In the past weekend he scored a hat-trick when Sonderjyske were beaten 4-1 in Haderslev and on Sunday he was on target twice to help the home side to a very comfortable 4-0 win in the classic Jutland battle against AaB. At the same time he scored his goal nr. 100 for AGF in the process.

It was AGF’s first game in their temporary new stadium in Vejlby with room for 12.00 spectators where they will play all their matches until their new stadium is ready next year. Thanks to the win AGF consolidated their third spot in the Danish Superliga after leaders FC Copenhagen and FC Midtjylland.

FC Nordsjaelland - Sonderjyske

After their first match against AaB was called off last week due to a frozen pitch, FC Nordsjælland recorded their first three points of the spring season when they dealt a severe blow to Sonderjyske’s aspirations of escaping relegation through a 3-2 win.

The visitors were mainly dangerous from set pieces and they took a surprising lead after 22 minutes when Lirim Qamili reacted quick to push a rebound over the goal line. However, the unexpected lead kickstarted the home side and just five minutes later FC Nordsjaelland were ahead thanks to two goals from Mario Dorgeles and Levy Nene.

Sonderjyske were not able to put enough pressure on FCN’s famous neat interplay, and after about an hour, the visitors were left to pay the price once more when Matti Olsen gave the home side a comfortable margin. Maxime Soulas gave Sonderjyske a late lifeline but it was too little too late as the home side held on for the three points.

Vejle - Brondby IF

Most people wouldn’t have given Vejle, currently in last place of the league, many chances of escaping relegation following a tumultuous restart where they two weeks ago sacked coach Mihai Teja and replaced him with Steffen Kielstrup and then one week later changed ownership.

But Vejle immediately improved their performances by taking a surprising 1-0 win away against Silkeborg and Sunday they showed again that they are a team not to be underestimated when they held Brondby to a 2-2 draw on home ground. German Onugkha even gave Vejle a surprising lead five minutes after the interval before Japanese striker Yuito Suzuki began his one-man show with two goals within the space of two minutes.

14 minutes from the end, Onugkha then made sure that the home side got at least a point to show for their efforts when he converted a penalty.

FC Copenhagen - FC Midtjylland

FC Copenhagen for the first time in three years managed to get the better of bitter rivals FC Midtjylland when the two sides met Sunday in a clash for first place in the Danish Superliga.

FC Copenhagen's assistant coach Stefan Madsen was put in charge as Jacob Neestrup was suspended and he witnessed a furious high-paced first half where Robert Silva should have put the home side ahead after 22 minutes when he somehow failed to tap the ball over the line from close range.

The visitors were also unfortunate not to go ahead eight minutes from the break, when Kevin Mbabu was unfortunate to see his header saved by the crossbar.

The home side scored the winning goal eight minutes into the second half, when Magnus Mattson converted a penalty after the referee following a VAR-check adjudged Oliver Sørensen to have stepped on Mattson's foot during a collision in the box.
