Brondby missed out on top spot in the league when they lost 2-0 in Haderslev, while AGF and FC Midtjylland grew further in confidence after recording wins against Vejle and Silkeborg, respectively. Last but not least, Fredericia continued their search up the table with a slim win against Randers.

Fredericia - Randers

Newly promoted Fredericia have been the surprise team of the season so far in the Danish Superliga. They have shown inspirational football straight from the start, and on Sunday, they moved into fifth spot in the table thanks to a 1-0 win at home against Randers.

Both teams had chances to open the score in a fast and furious first half, where the spectators were treated to end-to-end action as both sides sought to grab the initiative in the match. But it was the home side who managed to edge ahead when Oscar Buch burst through on the left flank and made an excellent cutback for the onrushing Svenn Crone, who left Randers keeper Paul Izzo no chance with a clinical finish.

After 72 minutes, Florian Danho came close to equalizing with a long-range attempt, but Mattias Lamhauge reacted quickly to divert the ball to safety as Fredericia hung on for the vital three points.

FC Midtjylland - Silkeborg

After their 4-0 win against KuPS in the qualification playoff round for the Europa League, FC Midtjylland managed to find the net on four occasions again when they won 4-2 against struggling Silkeborg and moved into second spot in the Danish Superliga.

Silkeborg otherwise looked to be heading for a surprise win when FC Midtjylland keeper Elias Olafsson accidentally pushed the ball into his own net after 32 minutes. But before the break, Portuguese Under-21 international Franculino, who is rumoured to leave FCM for no less than €30 million, restored parity. And after the interval, Aral Simsir and Dario Osorio put the home side in solid control before Callum McCowatt gave the visitors a lifeline with twenty minutes to go.

However, nine minutes from the end, Mikel Gogorza left no doubt of the outcome when he made it 4-2 and dealt Silkeborg their fourth defeat in six matches.

Sonderjyske - Brondby

Brondby blew a chance to move into top position in the league when they were dealt a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Sonderjyske in Haderslev. The Copenhagen side arrived in Southern Jutland with tired legs after their heroic performance in the Conference League against Strasbourg.

And that showed during the first half, where neither of the sides really managed to grab the initiative, with chances few and far between. The home side then had an excellent start to the second half as Daniel Gretarsson stole possession from Filip Bundgaard and finished off with a strong shot past Patrick Pentz.

For the rest of the game, the home side were content to defend deep against a Brondby side who struggled to create clear-cut opportunities. And with ten minutes to go, Sonderjyske doubled their lead when Lirim Qamili controlled a long pass from his own keeper and finished off with a strong finish.

AGF - Vejle

AGF recorded their third successive win when they moved into fourth position in the table, only two points off the top, as they came away with a slim 1-0 win in Vejlby against a resilient Vejle outfit.

Straight from kick off, the home side began with the confidence of a team which had won 5-1 in Odense on Monday, and after seven minutes it paid off, when Patrick Mortensen showed his amazing strength in the air to head home a pinpoint delivery from Gift Links. The match then lost a bit of intensity, and the visitors came close to an equalizer when the former AGF midfielder Mikkel Duelund hit the woodwork just before the interval.

During the second half, Tobias Bech should have put the game effectively out of reach when he was put clean through, but Igor Vekic pulled off a fine save to prevent further damage. Vejle put the pressure on the home side towards the end, but AGF held on for the win.
