On Thursday afternoon, FC Copenhagen's Under 19 team began their Youth League campaign in Bronshoj at Tingbjerg Idraetspark against Bayer Leverkusen's youth team.
Oscar Buur starred between the posts, Dominik Sarapata got a chance to shine in midfield, and Abdul Daramy was positioned on the wing for the hosts.
The home side fell behind after just nine minutes when the 18-year-old Emmanuel Chigozle Owen broke through on the left and launched a terrific stinging drive, leaving Buur completely helpless.
Leverkusen generally dominated proceedings, and the home team were only occasionally able to break the German stronghold on the game. FC Copenhagen did have an excellent opportunity to get back into the game when Sarapata set up Daramy, who, however, failed to find the net with the goal at his mercy.
Instead, Owen doubled his tally of the afternoon as Leverkusen took a 2-0 lead after an hour's play. Dustin Buck kicked the ball onto the crossbar, and Owen was quick to slot the rebound over the line.
The hosts attempted an unlikely comeback, but the Leverkusen youngsters held on for a deserved win.
