Utah's Spencer Fano became the first player in the program's history on Friday to win the Outland Trophy as the college football's best offensive interior lineman.

In 383 pass block snaps, Fano didn't give up a single sack and only allowed five pressures and five quarterback hurries throughout the 2025 season. He joined teammate and defensive lineman John Henry Dalley as they were awarded Walter Camp First-Team All-American honours.

This would make it Sano's second All-American honours, as he was selected to the Second-Team following the 2024 season. That same year, Sano was selected to the First-Team All-Big 12 team after winning the Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year Award.

There is some controversy surrounding Fano winning the Outland Trophy, considering he started every game during the 2025 season at right tackle - which isn't an interior lineman position (guard/centre).

Should Sano declare for the 2026 NFL Draft, projections have him going in the first round as one of the best talents in all of college football.
