Goalkeeper

Ivo Grbic (Karagumruk) 9

Despite falling to a 2-0 home defeat against Besiktas on Sunday, Karagumruk were indebted to goalkeeper Grbic, who single-handedly prevented the visitors from racking up the score.

The Croatian made 10 saves throughout the contest, including an excellent penalty stop to deny Cengiz Under in the second half.

Defence

Lukas Kubler (Freiburg) 8.7

Kubler got the ball rolling in Freiburg’s emphatic 4-0 victory at home to Mainz, with the right-back finding himself in the right place at the right time to convert from point-blank range.

Having opened the scoring, the experienced German continued to have an impact on the game, winning four ground duels and making three key tackles.

Malick Thiaw (Newcastle) 8.8

Newcastle eased their away struggles in the Premier League with a resounding 4-1 triumph at Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday evening.

Thiaw started and ended the scoring for the Magpies with a pair of fine headers, while the 24-year-old was just as influential at the back, winning seven duels and making five clearances.

Maxim De Cuyper (Brighton) 8.8

De Cuyper netted his second Brighton & Hove Albion goal since moving from Club Brugge in the summer, as the Seagulls claimed an impressive 2-0 away win at Nottingham Forest.

The Belgian swept a composed finish beyond Matz Sels to give his side the lead before half-time, and won all three ground duels during his 84 minutes on the pitch.

Midfield

Sami Ouaissa (NEC Nijmegen) 9.3

NEC Nijmegen moved up to third in the Eredivisie over the weekend after a goal and assist from Ouaissa inspired them to a 3-1 victory at home to Sparta Rotterdam.

The 21-year-old set up Koki Ogawa for the game’s opener before securing all three points early in the second half with a clinical close-range header.

Morten Thorsby (Genoa) 9

Daniele De Rossi earned his first win as Genoa boss on Saturday afternoon as the struggling Rossoblu came from behind to beat rock-bottom Verona 2-1 in Serie A.

Thorsby was influential for the hosts, heading home the match-winner shortly after the hour mark, as well as coming out on top in 75% of his 28 aerial duels.

Orkun Kokcu (Besiktas) 9

Besiktas proved too strong for Karagumruk on Sunday, and key to their 2-0 victory was the midfield display of Kokcu.

The 24-year-old completed 92% of his passes during the contest, while winning five ground duels and creating three big chances.

Joey Veerman (PSV) 8.8

Veerman continues to deliver for PSV, with the Dutch midfielder scoring his sixth Eredivisie goal of the season in a comfortable 3-0 win for Peter Bosz’s side over FC Volendam.

Not only did Veerman break the deadlock inside six minutes with a confident low strike, but he also won all five of his ground duels and racked up a pass success rate of 91%.

Dani Olmo (Barcelona) 8.9

Barcelona returned to the LaLiga summit over the weekend after a 3-1 comeback victory against Alaves secured a fourth straight league triumph for Hansi Flick's men.

Having been benched in midweek against Chelsea, Olmo returned to the starting XI in style, netting a well-taken brace as well as completing 80% of his passes in the final third.

Attack

Florian Thauvin (Lens) 9.3

Lens claimed a fourth consecutive win to move ahead of Paris Saint-Germain at the top of Ligue 1, with Thauvin starring in a hard-fought 2-1 triumph at Angers.

The experienced forward opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time with a stunning strike from the edge of the box, before putting the game beyond doubt late in the second period via a fortuitous deflected effort.

Keinan Davis (Udinese) 9.6

Davis produced a superb all-round striker's display for Udinese on Saturday, as the Bianconeri proved too strong for Parma in a convincing 2-0 away victory.

Not only did Davis both win and convert the penalty for Udinese's second, but he also completed 75% of his dribbles while coming out on top in all six of his ground duels.
