Clara Tauson crashed out of the French Open on Friday afternoon, when she lost 7-6, 6-4 against USA's Amanda Anisimova in the third round of the Grand Slam tournament.

By reaching the third round at the Roland Garros, Clara Tauson lived up to her seeding (22. seeded) but went into the match against the world No 16, Amanda Anisimova, as true underdog.

However, this wasn't evident at the beginning of the match, when the 22-year-old Dane began by breaking serve against the one-year older Anisimova.

However, it did not take long for the hard-hitting Anisimova to break back and every time the American managed to get her first serve in play, the often slow-moving Tauson was in trouble.

Tauson played her best match in the French Open so far and despite Anisimova's dominant play, Tauson managed to force the first set into a tiebreaker.

In the tiebreaker Tauson, however, had a disastrous start as she fell behind 0-5 and Anisimova eventually took the set by winning the tiebreaker 7-4.

Anisimova remained in control for the  majority of the second set where she quickly established a 3-1 lead.

Anisimova then chose to take a medical timeout to get treatment for blisters on her fingers while Clara Tauson took advantage of the opportunity to have a chat with her coach Kasper Elsvad.

During the chat Tauson expressed her frustration over Anisimova's impressive returns which constantly put the Dane under intense pressure.

"I need to be faster after my serve, but I don't have it in me", said Tauson and stated that she had to go home to practice it.

Tauson, however didn't give up and managed to resore parity at 3-3 before Anisimova again recovered her powerful game to take a 5-4 lead  in the second set before she served home the match in effortless fashion.
