No less than 32 singles games take place on the second day of the Madrid Open in the Spanish capital, with the likes of Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff and Joao Fonseca all taking to court on what is set to be a busy day of tennis on the clay. Follow all the action with Flashscore's Tennis Tracker.

23:17 CET - Jacob Fearnley and Reilly Opelka are the final two winners of the day, claiming straight-set victories in Madrid.

22:14 CET - Despite being bagelled in the first set, Coco Gauff found a way to the finish line, beating Dayana Yastremska, 0-6, 6-2, 7-5.

20:40 CET - Tallon Griekspoor made light work of Vit Kopriva, soaring past his Czech opponent, 6-1, 6-4. He faces Jack Draper in the second round.

20:18 CET - There was no such shock regarding Madison Keys, however, with the Australian Open champion proving too good for Lucia Bronzetti, winning 6-4, 6-3.

20:15 CET - There has been an upset in Madrid this evening, with 25th seed Leylah Fernandez falling to American Ann Li, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

18:45 CET - Great Britain's Cameron Norrie stood on the brink of defeat, but found a way past 19-year-old Spaniard Martin Landaluce, 6-7(4), 7-5, 6-4.

Jan-Lennard Struff also progressed after his opponent Botic van de Zandschulp retired in the final set, trailing 7-5, 2-6, 4-1.

17:57 CET - Iga Swiatek was, yet again, a country mile from her best and looked in a really precarious position as she trailed the supremely talented Alexandra Eala by a set and a break in Madrid. But in the end, the Pole had just about enough in her locker to gain revenge for her loss to the 19-year-old in Miami, sealing a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory.

17:47 CET - A remarkable result has seen the inexplicable Jelena Ostapenko, who is coming off the back of winning the title in Stuttgart, fall at the first hurdle in Madrid, losing to fellow Latvian Anastasija Sevastova, 7-6(2), 6-2. It is a big win for the 35-year-old, however, after suffering a terrible injury in 2024.

16:58 CET - Czech 20-year-old Linda Noskova overcame a tough first set to defeat world number 119 Maria Lourdes Carle, 7-5, 6-1.

16:15 CET - 11th seed Emma Navarro was given a good test by 19-year-old Maya Joint, but the American's experience proved vital as she claimed a battling 7-5, 7-5 win.

Nicolas Jarry also progressed with a much simpler 6-3, 6-2 victory over Daniel Altmaier.

15:58 CET - It's been an almost perfect afternoon for world number 13 Diana Shnaider, who needed minimal time to beat USA's Katie Voynets. The Russian won their encounter 6-1, 6-2 to progress.

15:38 CET - Another Italian is through to the next round on the men's side of the draw, with Lorenzo Sonego seeing off Miomir Kecmanovic with relative ease 6-4, 7-6(5).

15:16 CET - It was always going to be a challenging start to her quest for the Madrid Open title, but Mirra Andreeva has come through it, beating Czech Republic's Marie Bouzkova in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.

Meanwhile, Luciano Darderi is through to the next round after a 6-4, 6-4 win over Quentin Halys

15:03 CET - Beatriz Haddad Maia was given a scare, but the Brazilian managed to turn the match around to beat Bernarda Pera, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1.

14:40 CET - 30th seed Anna Kalinskaya has moved swiftly into the third round, beating French youngster Diane Parry, 7-6(4), 6-4.

14:22 CET - Canada's Gabriel Diallo had little issue against Zizou Bergs, dismantling his opponent 6-1, 6-2 in just under an hour.

14:07 CET - Magdalena Frech and Jessica Bouzas Maneiro have played out a three-hour slugfest in Madrid, with the former suriving from a set and a break down to get the better of the Spaniard, 5-7, 7-6(2), 6-4.

13:11 CET - Veteran Kei Nishikori didn't have it all his own way against Aleksandar Vukic, but his quality told as he defeated his Australian opponent, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 to move through in Madrid.

13:07 CET - Belinda Bencic has outlasted Clara Tauson in a really tough first-round battle, eventually sealing a 7-5, 7-5 win in just under two hours.

12:53 CET - Some more disappointing news coming out of Madrid: Karolina Muchova has also withdrawn from the tournament due to an illness.

12:48 CET - Donna Vekic is the next player through in the Spanish capital, completing a 6-4, 6-3 win over Hailey Baptiste in an hour and a half.

Meanwhile, Alexandre Muller has also sealed a spot in the second round after his opponent, David Goffin, retired in the third set.

12:41 CET - It is official: two-time champion Carlos Alcaraz has pulled out of the Madrid Open - majorly disappointing news for the home fans who were looking forward to watching him.

"During the Barcelona final, I hurt the adductor muscle in my right leg, but I also felt something in the hamstring of my left leg," the Spaniard announced in a press conference.

"We've tried everything to improve, but it hasn't been possible.”

12:38 CET - No. 18 seed Liudmila Samsonova is the first winner of the day, easing past American Caroline Dolehide, 6-4, 6-4.

12:17 CET - Flashscore understands that two-time Madrid champion, Carlos Alcaraz, is set to withdraw from the tournament with an abductor tear. The Spaniard is set to have a press conference in around 15 minutes, where he will give the press more information. We will bring you more on this story as we get it.

11:00 CET - We are underway in the Spanish capital, with the second day of the Madrid Open.

Remember, you can follow all of the day's games with us right here.

10:00 CET - An hour until we get going in Madrid, and so far this morning we have focused on the women's side of the draw, but that doesn't mean there isn't some fun matchups on the men's side too.

The 2023 runner-up, Jan-Lennard Struff, takes to the court from 14:00 CET, where he will face Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp in the first round.

Wins have been hard to come by for the experienced German in recent weeks, having failed to advance in any competition since the middle of February.

Can he change that today - follow it here.

09:00 CET - Good morning and welcome back to Flashscore's Tennis Tracker as the Madrid Open's early rounds continue with some intriguing encounters on both the ATP and WTA sides of the draws.

Perhaps the most even contest of the day sees resurgent Belinda Bencic take on 20th seed Clara Tauson from 11:00 CET as the former Olympic champion, Bencic, looks to build on a strong 2025.

Tauson, like her Swiss opponent, has been in fine form this year, winning her maiden outdoor title earlier this season in Auckland.

The pair have met just once before - back in 2022 - when the Danish star came out on top in three sets.

Follow that game here.

Later on, the headline names of Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff will take to court, as the Polish clay-court supremo looks to rid herself of the memory of her loss to Jelena Ostapenko - also on court today - in Barcelona last week.

Ostapenko would go on to win the tournament, but for Swiatek, her attention switches to Philippines star Alexandra Eala. She is the only person from her nation to win at this tournament, and the 19-year-old is striking the ball well of late, making a dream run to the semi-finals in Miami last month.

She will be no pushover for the four-time French Open champion - the match is set to start at 14:30 CET and is certainly one to follow during the afternoon.

Elsewhere, the aforementioned Ostapenko faces fellow Latvian Anastasija Sevastova, whilst Gauff faces the challenge of Ukraine's Dayana Yastremska from 19:00 CET.
