Tallon Griekspoor has made it into the second round of the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam after beating Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in straight sets on centre court: 6-4, 6-4.

Griekspoor arrived in Rotterdam on the back of another disappointing tournament, this time after a quarter-final exit against 120th-ranked Titouan Droguet in Montpellier.

In his home tournament in Rotterdam, Griekspoor was drawn against service monster Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. The Dutchman opened strongly with a stable service game and eventually broke Mpetshi Perricard on his fourth break point of the game.

Griekspoor ended his first set with a stout defensive effort after Mpetshi Perricard reached break point on 40-15. The Frenchman couldn't bank any of his three break points, however, as Griekspoor took the set on his second set point.

The second set saw both players bring their A-game to the hardcourt of Ahoy. Griekspoor narrowly kept his third service game after a marathon game with three break points for his French counterpart.

Griekspoor eventually pulled off another win, though, after breaking Mpetshi Perricard in the ninth game and capping off a strong outing with a love game to reach the quarters in Rotterdam.

Frenchman Quentin Halys will face Griekspoor next after the 29-year-old eliminated Dutch young wild card Mees Rottgering in three sets.
