Midtjylland finally halted as Celtic claim huge victory
100 - After suffering home losses on Matchdays 2 and 3, AS Roma got back to winning ways at the Stadio Olimpico. Neil El Aynaoui and Stefan El Shaarawy got the goals for the Giallorossi in their 2-1 defeat of FC Midtjylland. The Danes' perfect record in this season's league phase finally ends. For Roma, that was their 100th win in the UEFA Cup/Europa League in 191 matches.
10 - Aston Villa jump up to third spot in the league phase standings after topping Young Boys 2-1 at home. For the second time in this league phase, Villa have earned back-to-back victories, putting them in a great spot to qualify directly for the last 16. Young Boys, now sitting in 26th place, have been beaten by an English side in Europe for the 10th time.
0 - European football has not been so nice to OGC Nice of late. Les Aiglons fell to defeat once again, with Porto dishing out a 3-0 reverse to the Ligue 1 club. A Gabriel Veiga double in the first half set the 2010/11 winners on their way to a third leaague phase win this fall. In the 90 minutes, Nice fail to register a single shot on target, despite outshooting their opponents.
3 - Fenerbahce and Ferencvaros played to a 1-1 draw in Turkiye as the latter maintained their unbeaten run in the competition. Barnabas Varga's opener was cancelled out by Talisca a few moments later in the middle of the second half. In the end, it is a point apiece. Not only were the goals about three minutes apart, but Fradi remain undefeated in their three head-to-heads with Fener (1-2-0).
16 - For the second time this month, Celtic are victorious in the UEL. This time, the Hoops got the better of Feyenoord 3-1 in Rotterdam. They had to do it the hard way though, coming from behind to hand their Dutch opponents - who beat them in the 1969/70 European Cup final - their second home loss this fall. It also ended a 16-game winless run in continental away games for Celtic.
11 - Ludogorets pulled off what was arguably the biggest shock of the night. Going up 3-0 against Celta Vigo, the Bulgarians held firm at the end to edge their Spanish opponents 3-2 at home. Petar Stanic was the star of the show, netting a hat-trick to give his side some life in the standings. The Razgrad-based Ludogorets have finally got the better of a LaLiga team, doing so at the 11th time of asking.
5 - PAOK conceded late on in their clash with Brann, ultimately having to settle for a 1-1 stalemate. Emil Kornvig played hero for the Norwegians, scoring in the 89th minute to get a share of the spoils in Thessaloniki. Brann kept themselves firmly in the running to make it past this stage. However, they are still winless across five group phase away matches (0-3-2).
43 - There was no messing about from Lille in their dominant 4-0 success over Dinamo Zagreb. Four different players found the back of the net for Les Dogues, who are now sitting just outside of the top eight. Dinamo's record versus French sides is rather poor, with Thursday being their 12th loss in 19 games (3-4-12). Moreover, the Croatian giants have conceded 43 times versus Ligue 1 clubs.
29 - Viktoria Plzen and Freiburg played to a goalless draw in Czechia, as neither team were able to find the back of the net. The pair remain unbeaten in this season's Europa League, with Freiburg currently sitting fourth after the result. Plzen are proving hard to break down again, having conceded just twice in the five matches. As for the match itself, there were a total of 29 shots between the two teams.
Lyon score six while Stuttgart impress in the Netherlands
6 - It was another victory for Real Betis, who got past Utrecht 2-1. Although last season's Conference League finalists took a 2-0 lead before the hour mark, they had to be careful in the last 30 minutes, as the Eredivisie side gave them all they could handle. Still, Los Verdiblancos triumphed. Betis' unbeaten run at home in Europe has now stretched to six games (4-2-0), scoring twice in all six matches.
27 - Bologna earned a statement win at home, with their 4-1 defeat of the visiting RB Salzburg being their joint-largest win in a UEFA club competition. I Rossoblu scored twice in the space of two minutes early in the second half, which blew the game wide open. This was the second time that Bologna scored four times in a European game, with the other coming 27 years ago, when they beat Real Betis by the same score.
7 - Crvena zvezda made the most of a difficult situation versus FCSB. Despite playing down a man since the 27th minute, the Serbs found a second half goal to stun their Romanian opponents 1-0. Bruno Duarte found the back of the net a few moments after the restart to give the hosts their second victory of the league phase. Red Star also remain undefeated versus sides from Romania, which has now gone up to seven (6-1-0).
13 - Stuttgart ran rampant in the Netherlands, beating Eredivisie opposition for the second round in a row. This time, it was Go Ahead Eagles who fell to the DFB Pokal holders 4-0 in what was a dominant showing. The win has now put Stuttgart up to 12th spot, a point outside of the top eight. It was the Bundesliga team's largest European win in 13 years, when they beat FCSB 5-1.
17 - Olympique Lyonnais recorded their fourth victory of the league phase, bouncing back from their reverse three weeks ago. Maccabi Tel Aviv were the victims on this occasion, falling 6-0 to a determined Lyon side. Corentin Tolisso completed a hat-trick for OL, who now sit top on goal difference. They have never lost to an Israeli team, having scored a total of 17 goals in five matches.
12 - Genk also moved up the tables on Thursday as the Belgians got past Basel 2-1 at home. Oh Hyeon-Gyu scored his third goal of the league phase for the Smurfs, who finally scored at the Cegeka Arena after failing to do so in their other two matches. Genk also recorded their seventh success over a Swiss team, 12 years from their last win.
8 - The rematch of the 1978/79 European Cup showpiece went the way of Nottingham Forest once more. The Tricky Trees prevailed 3-0 over Malmo at The City Ground. Forest are now in the top half of the league phase with their second win in three contests. Malmo have fallen to an English club for the eighth time across 10 clashes (1-1-8).
22 - Sturm Graz's struggles on the road continue. The Austrian champions were beaten 2-1 at Panathinaikos. Davide Calabria scored the winner 16 minutes from time to give the Greeks a key victory in their pursuit of knockout football. Sturm sit outside of the top 24 by two points with three games left. Having lost their last eight in European away games, Die Schwoazn have conceded 22 times during the run.
2 - Rangers and Braga had to settle for a point at Ibrox, where the match ended 1-1. James Tavernier's penalty in first-half stoppage time was undone by Gabri Martinez eight minutes after Braga were reduced to 10 men. The Gers would also see a man be sent off by the end as well in a result that does little good for them. It was just the second time that Braga have drawn against a Scottish team in 10 games (3-2-5).
